Venue preparation

On Christmas Eve, a team of Norwich Open Christmas volunteers work hard to decorate the venue, lay the tables, prepare the kitchens and sort through the donated items so that we are ready to receive our guests on Christmas Day. We would like to thank the staff of the King's Centre for being so helpful - we couldn't have be putting on Norwich Open Christmas 2024 if it wasn't for them. 

Hall preparation will be taking place at The King's Centre, Norwich. Below, find all the information that you'll need for hall preparation day.

Norwich Open Christmas 2024 venue
The King's Centre, Norwich will be the venue for Norwich Open Christmas 2024. Our Christmas celebration will run as normal from 11:00 to 17:00 on 25 December - lunch, clothes and entertainment will be freely available to anyone that joins us! 

Registered volunteers

• Only those volunteers who have registered to assist with hall preparation can attend the hall preparation day. 
• We are not able to allow friends or family who aren't registered for venue preparation.  

What you need for the day

• You do not need to bring anything with you to help with hall preparation, but food/clothing donations are always welcome. ​

Parking

• There is no parking available at the King's Centre. 
• The nearest car parks are the Rose Lane car park and the Riverside car park. 
• Alternatively, the King's Centre is less than a 10 minute walk from Norwich train station if you wish to travel via public transport.

Sign in

• There will be a sign in sheet available when you arrive. 
• Please sign this upon arrival so we have an accurate record of who is helping to prepare The King's Centre.

How to assist

• There are lots of tasks to be completed throughout the day to prepare for Norwich Open Christmas. 
• In the morning, we will need help at our storage unit to load vehicles (people who carry out this task need to be physically able).  
• We will also need volunteers to help unload vehicles which contain donated goods, with others helping to sort these donations into appropriate areas within The King's Centre.
• In the afternoon, the tables and The King's Centre will be decorated. The audio equipment is set up and tested, and the prepared food for the guest's meals arrives and is stored. ​
• This list is not exhaustive as there will be lots to do, but at the end of venue preparation day The King's Centre looks ready for a Christmas celebration like no other!
