Food preparation 

All the meals for our 500+ guests are prepared with the kind generosity and support of the staff at City College Norwich, together with the hard work of the Norwich Open Christmas volunteers.  ​

Food preparation will be taking place at City College, Norwich. Below, find all the information that you'll need for food preparation day.

Registered volunteers

• Only those volunteers who have registered to assist with food preparation can attend the food preparation day.
• We are not able to allow friends or family who aren't registered for food preparation into the kitchens.

What you need for the day

• All knives and other kitchen utensils will be supplied by City College, so please do not bring any from home. 
• However, feel free to bring aprons and gloves if you wish to do so.

​Location: Hotel School (Cromer Building), City College Norwich, Ipswich Road, NR2 2LJ

• The meals will be prepared in the Hotel School kitchens. 
• The entrance to the Hotel School kitchens is via the Cromer Building reception area.
• To find the Hotel School kitchens, you will need to walk past the reception in Cromer Building, through the double doors and then turn left.

Parking

• Free parking is available in the City College car park.
• The car park is located directly in front of you when driving into the Southwell Entrance.
• Please only park in the marked bays only as some spaces are allocated to residents.

Sign in

• There will be a sign in sheet available when you arrive. 
• Please sign this upon arrival so we have an accurate record of who is in the kitchens.

How to assist 

• All food preparation will be overseen and directed by one of the Senior Lecturers of City College, who is giving their time freely to help us.   
• You can assist in the preparation going smoothly by following the Senior Lecturer's guidance - they have lots of expert tips on how to cook for a large number of people!
