Hall preparation

On Christmas Eve, a team of Norwich Open Christmas volunteers work hard to decorate the hall, lay the tables, prepare the kitchens and sort through the donated items so that we are ready to receive our guests on Christmas Day. We would like to thank the staff of St Andrews Hall who support us so brilliantly year after year.

Hall preparation will be taking place at St Andrews Hall, Norwich. Below, find all the information that you'll need for hall preparation day.

Registered volunteers

  • Only those volunteers who have registered to assist with hall preparation can attend the hall preparation day.
  • We are not able to allow friends or family who aren't registered for hall preparation into St Andrews Hall.

What you need for the day

  • You do not need to bring anything with you to help with hall preparation, but food/clothing donations are always welcome.
  • Please note, the staff at St Andrews Hall will be responsible for the erecting of tables and the movement of stacked chairs.

  • Please sign this upon arrival so we have an accurate record of who is helping to prepare St Andrews Hall.

How to assist

  • There are lots of tasks to be completed throughout the day to prepare for Norwich Open Christmas.
  • In the morning, we will need help at our storage unit to load vehicles (people who carry out this task need to be physically able).
  • We will also need volunteers to help unload vehicles which contain donated goods, with others helping to sort these donations into appropriate areas within St Andrews Hall.
  • In the afternoon, the tables and St Andrews Hall will be decorated. The audio equipment is set up and tested, and the prepared food for the guest's meals arrives and is stored.
  • This list is not exhaustive as there will be lots to do, but at the end of hall preparation day St Andrews looks ready for a Christmas celebration like no other!
